Ya-Zara graduates 16 orphans

Ya Zara Orphan Care Foundation, Potiskum in Yobe State has graduated 16 orphans and secured them admission to continue their education at El-Kanemi College of Islamic Theology, Maiduguri.

In his address during the graduation ceremony, Engr.Abubakar D. Aliyu, the Minister of Power and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the foundation welcomed the guests to witness the official departure of another batch of 16 orphans under the care of the foundation, to the college to continue their education.

According to him, the occasion is also organised to welcome the second set of orphans, comprising 15 boys and 10 girls, to the orphanage.

“I shall at this point express our profound appreciation to Dr.Muhammad SaniIdriss, the Honourable Commissioner for Education and Executive Director of El Kanemi College of Islamic Theology for agreeing to serve on the board of Trustees of this foundation, allowing us to use the colleges’ curriculum and for sending staff of the college to come on periodic visit to the orphanage to assess implementation of academic programmes and advise as appropriate,” he said.

He added: “This has no doubt strengthened our resolve to seek affiliation of our programmes to the college.”

Earlier, the Deputy Speaker of thesState House of Assembly, AlhajiAuwal Isa Bello urged well meaning individuals to always assist the orphans.

One of the orphans, Ahmad Adamu Daye thanked the minister for the initiative, which according to him has helped greatly in alleviating the sufferings of the orphans in the area.

Highlights of the occasion were Qur’anic recitation by one of the orphans, Fatima Muhammad Alfaki, welcome address in Arabic and jolly gesture by IshaqAbubakar and Ibrahim DaudaDamazai.
