Kano State Commissioner of Information, Malam Muhammad Garba has affirmed that women are integral part of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s administration.
He dropped the hint while distributing COVID-19 relief packages to women held at Shariah Commission Secretariat in Kano metropolis.
The event was organised by the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Child Welfare and Women Mobilisation, Hajiya Fatima Dala, recently.
Malam Garba stated that the items were provided by the Theoplus Danjuma Foundation meant to cushion the effect of the pandemic.
According to him, the state government is concerned about the hardship the people of the state experienced during the lockdown and was aware that many businesses were crippled, households disorganized, saying further that the victims were mostly women who are the home keepers and who bored the brunt more than any others.
According to him, following the outbreak of the pandemic, the state governor instructed him to prioritise women in relief packages distribution, saying he personally selected the office of the Special Adviser on Women in ensuring women were direct beneficiaries of the packages.
He disclosed that the Fund Raising Committee on COVID-19, under the chairmanship of the immediate past Vice Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, Prof. Yahuza Bello, has distributed the relief package to over 300,000 households in six phases, with 50,000 households in each phase.
Garba pledged to extend similar gesture to more women considering their contribution towards the success of the present administration and the development of humanity in the state.
