In an effort by the Armed Forces of Nigeria to fight all sort of criminal activities in the country, over 2, 783 terrorists along side with their families have surrendered between the period of September 2 and 30, 2021 in the ongoing operations in the North-East and NorthWest by the military troops.
The Acting Director, Defence Media Operations in the Defence Headquarters Abuja, Brigadier General Benard Onyeuko disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Abuja recently on the operational activities of the Armed Forces of Nigeria across the country.
He said in the same period about 85 Boko Haram and ISWAP together with 240 bandits in the North-East and NorthWest were neutralized, while other 90 bandits together with their collaborators were arrested during various operations in the region.
Brigadier Onyeuko said that within the period under review, troops of operations Hadin Kai sustained the operational tempo in land and air offensives against terrorist and other criminal elements in the North-East theatre.
According to him, troops had several encounters with terrorists at different locations and in the course of the operations significant results were recorded in different location in the North-East including Mazga-Kamuga, Damboa Wass-Bitta-Balo-Gwaza and Damboa Balabulin-Maiduguri roads in the state of Borno.
The Defence Media operations said that in the same vein, the Air component conducted air bombardments on criminal enclaves in different locations including Magami and Dansadau Forests in Zamfara state and executed on bandits’ hideouts from where they cached attacks own troops locations with innocent civilians.
He assured that the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies would not rest on their oars in the fight against criminalities in all parts of the country.
He however said that the Military High Command has appreciated the continuous sacrifices of its troops in the various theatres of operation across the country.
