Ward congress: Masari happy with consensus

Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katisna state has said the use of consensus to for the conduct of ward congress by All Progressive Congress (APC) is to return the party to the people at grassroots.

Masari spoke shortly after receiving interim report on ward congress by committee of the party National Headquarter lead by Ali Kumo.

He said the use of consensus allow party members at grassroot  to elect party leaders without any interference by individuals or group of people.

Masari said the method is to show political relevance for candidates to contest 2023 elections and other leaders of the party.

He noted that to ensure success of the party congresses, the state inaugurated all inclusive committee with representatives of members of National and State Assemblies and people that have shown interest to contest election in 2023 .

He further said the use of consensus was a decision taken by stakeholders at a meeting held before the conduct of the ward congress.

Masari said report from state indicated the party conducted a peaceful and acceptable ward congresses which will reflect the success of the party in 2023 election.

He advised other political parties to borrow a leaf from APC by using the same method in electing party leaders.

Earlier, Chairman of the committee  Kumo said the committee conducted free and fair ward congress across 361 wards.

Kumo said the committee will write a full report of the election and submitted it to the national headquarter of the party.

Meanwhile, about 900,000 pregnant women in Katisna state are vaccinated against Maternal Neonatal Tantanus disease.

The state chief immunization Officer, Shahura Muhammad revealed this at a meeting with media in preparation of vaccination exercise.

Mrs. Muhammad said government will commence the vaccination from today – 13th of this month in 14 local government out of 34 councils areas

She said the vaccination exercise is to protects lives of mothers who at risk of contacting the diseases.

According to her, based on Survey conducted, the 14 local council has the highest prevalence of Tantanus disease, pointing out that the vaccination exercise will completely eradicate the disease. 

She listed the council areas to include Charanchi, Rimi, Ingawa, Kafur, Kaita, Kankara, Maiadua, Sandamu, Zango, Mashi, Mani, Batsari, Bindawa and Baure.

Mrs. Muhammed said pregnant women from the 15 to 49 years will be vaccinated, adding already about one million  of vaccines were distributed to the 14 councils.

The chief immunization officer said district, village and ward heads are mobilize to ensure success of vaccination exercise

 She appealed to media to assist for the success of the exercise in the state.
