Troops arrest 5 suspected foreign bandits

Nigerian troops have arrested five suspected foreign bandits and several other terrorists in the last two weeks, according to the Defence Headquarters (DHQ).

The five suspected foreign bandits who were arrested by the troops of Operation Hadarin Daji at Jibia in Jibia Local Gov­ernment Area of Katsina State including Muritala Wada, Saminu Sani, Shamisu Adamu, Salisu Saadu and Usman Ibra­him.

Briefing newsmen in Abuja yesterday on the operational activities of the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies in the last two weeks, the Di­rector, Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. Bernard Onyeuko, explained that the troops have continued to sustain op­erational activities through the conduct of fighting and clearance patrols to clear bandits and terrorists enclaves.

According to him, between July 31 and August 2, 2022, troops also arrested one Mallam Yahaya a notorious bandit infor­mant who has been on the tracking list of the Department of State Security for col­laborating with bandits on the numerous attacks in Sabon Brini general area of So­koto State.

In another operation in Air Component of Operation Hadarin Daji on August 6, 2022, carried out successful strikes on key terrorists enclave and hideout located at Rudu forest in Katsina State.

He said, the air interdiction led to the neutralization of a high profiled terrorist leader who has been on the wanted list of the military named; Alhaji Abdulkareem Lawal (aka Abdulkareem Boss) and his foot soldiers.

Maj. Gen. Onyeuko said that all recov­ered items and apprehended bandits were handed over to the relevants authority for further action.
