From Umar Danladi Ado, Sokoto
Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has assented the House of Assembly and that of Judicial autonomy bills into law.
In his remarks immediately after he signed the two bills, Governor Tambuwal expressed sad that many Nigerians were misled into believing that governors were against granting financial autonomy to the two arms of government, stressing that what they kicked against was President Buhari’s Executive Order 10.
“The back and forth was as a result of Executive Order 10, which President Buhari was inadvertently ill-advised to sign.
“The constitution is self enforcing. We believe in the constitution; not in Executive Order 10. Why should anyone believe in Executive Order 10? We do not believe in Executive Order 10,” he stressed.
The governor also expressed appreciation over cordial working relationship existing between the state executive and the legislature of the state.
He congratulated the lawmakers for the speedy passage of the Gender-Based Violence (GBV) bill which he noted, will address the issues of gender violence in the state.
Governor Tambuwal therefore urged the lawmakers to also pass the Child Rights Act in conformity with the culture, norm and integrity of the people of the state.
