The Sultanate Council Committee on Religious Affairs inconjunction with the National Moon Sighting Committee did not receive any report from various Moon Committee across the country confirming the sighting of the new moon of Shawwal 1442AH,on today which was the 29th day of Ramadan 1442AH.
This was contained in a statement signed by Chairman, Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council, Sokoto Prof. Sambo Wali Junaid and issued to newsmen in Sokoto today.
The committee therefore announced that tomorrow is the 30th day of the month of Ramadan 1442AH.
The Sultan of Sokoto and President General,Nigeria Supreme Ciuncil for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar has accepted the report and accordingly declared Thursday, May 13, 2021 as the first day of Shawwal1442AH,(Day of Eid-ElFitr)
The Sultan facilitate with the Nigerian Muslim Ummah and wishes them Allah’s guidance and blessings.
The Sultan while urging the Muslim Ummah to continue to pray for peace, progress and development of the country, he also wishes all Muslims a happy Eid-El-Fitr.
