From Umar Danladi Ado, Sokoto
Communities in Shagari and Tureta Local Government Areas of Sokoto State have expressed confidence that the expansion of the 80-kilometer-road from Shagari to Tureta will assist in boosting the economy and security between both areas.
The communities expressed happiness over the commencement of the road expansion, which for so long has cutoff and become a death trap to the residents and commuters flying the road.
Commenting on the development, the chairman of Shagari Local Government Area of the state, Alhaji Aliyu Dantani Shagari, who spoke on behalf of the communities, noted that the ongoing rehabilitation and expansion of the road is timely considering the significance of the road networks that links many towns and villages.
He maintained that the road also serves as a vital catalyst between the neighbouring Sokoto, Zamfara and Kebbi States as the road simplified farmers to transport farm produces and extend trades to other states like Kano, Kaduna and Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The chairman further assured that the vigilante groups are working in collaboration with other sister security agencies in the area to provide security to project contractors and their equipment.
Alhaji Dantani urged the people in the area to continue to support and cooperate with the road workers so as to achieve the targeted goal.
