By Usman Gwadabe

The Management of the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR) has ordered the immediate closure of its Bagauda Campus to avert security threat.

A release from the Director, Media and Public Relations of the institute, Ahmed Mohammed Sule said this followed a directive by the Kano State Government for the closure of Government Technical College, Bagauda, which is close to the Kano Zonal Campus of NIHOTOUR on security grounds.

According to the release, the closure of the campus was announced by its Coordinator, Dr. Abba Shehu on the order of the Director General of the Institute, Alhaji Nura Sani Kangiwa.

It said the directive further ordered students to vacate premises of the campus and also staff of the Institute to stay off the campus in the interest of the protection of lives, adding
however, that the Mini Campus of the Institute located at the Civic Centre Road in the Kano metropolis, where the IATA Course Programmes are offered will remain operational.

While the Director General expressed displeasure at the decision, he said this has become necessary “because we have the responsibility to protect the lives of our staff and students.”
