Security groups warn youth on traditional ‘Kidan Gwauro’

Voluntary security groups in Unguwa Uku, Tarauni Local Government Area of Kano State have organized a sensitization campaign to draw the attention of the parents to warn their children against participating in the annual tradition of going round with drums and fireworks disturbing the public in the name of Kidan Gwauro.

The Secretary of the Committee Operation Zaman Lafiya and Chairman Mu Hadu Mu Gyara Unguwa Uku, Comrade Usman Abdullahi Umar disclosed this to The Triumph during an interview.

He said the exercise was part of the resolution adopted during the joint meeting of the state vigilante group and the committee. He expressed readiness to fight against the acts during the festival, observing that some are using the celebration to attack and snatch people of their properties during the activities.

He warned that the security groups, under the leadership of the Yar’ Akwa Divisional Police Office, would not relent in its efforts to rid immoral acts from the youths within the area.

The secretary commended the state government and the Tarauni management for the support and cooperation accorded to the voluntary security groups in the area.

He equally thanked the Police Divisional Officer for his encouragement to ensure peace and stability in the area.

The voluntary groups, comprising vigilante group, Operation Zaman Lafiya, Mu hadu Mu Gyara and Hunters Association vowed to continue to monitor the activities of the youths during the period in the area
