Sokoto Zonal Command of the National Agency of the Prohibition of Traffic in Persons and other Related Matters (NAPTIP), has received 22 victims of human trafficking repatriated from Niger Republic.
The 22 victims whose age range is between the ages of 16 to 25 years comprises 21 females and one male.
Parading the victims before the newsmen in his office today, the Commandant Barrister Abubakar Bashari said the victims were repatriated from Niger Republic by the Nigeria Police.
“They were repatriated from Niger Republic by the Nigeria Police, they were handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service(NIS), Illela Border Command on August 29, 2021 and they were handed over to NAPTIP Sokoto Zonal Command at Illela Border, Sokoto State,” he added.
Bashiru explained that the victims were lured by some traffickers to secure a white collar job in Europe, noting that the victims were from Lagos, Edo, Delta, Ogun and Imo States respectively.
The victims were accommodating and being counselling by Sokoto NAPTIP office while investigation is on course to arrest the sponsored for prosecutions.
