Sokoto State workforce has every cause to smile as Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has directed the state Ministry of Finance to pay July salaries starting from 15th of this month.
The state Commissioner for Finance, Abdulsamad Dasuki, stated this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting held at the council Chambers, Government House, Sokoto Wednesday.
Dasuki maintained that the governor has directed banks in the state to immediately commence preparations for the payment of the salaries to enable them celebrate Sallah festivals with ease.
The Commissioner also stated that the council has approved award of a contract for the construction of a new Revenue House to replace the old one at the cost of over N1.1 billion.
The new Revenue House when completed would consist of two different banks and other facilities.
On his part, the state Commissioner for Health, Dr Ali Muhammad Nname, said in the last 123 days, the state has not recorded any COVID-19 case, noting that so far, over 17,440 persons have been screened for disease.
Nname further said a contract for the supply of Anti-Malaria Drugs for onward distribution to the 23 local government areas has been awarded at the cost of over N500million.
The council also approved upward review of the ongoing construction of the Waziri – Abass dual carriage road with an addition of N172 million making the total amount to over N 881 million .
