Over .8m pupils benefit from school feeding – KTSG

The federal government is feeding over 9 million primary school pupils through Home Growing School feeding programme.

Minister of Humanitarian affairs and Disaster management Sadiya Umar faruk revealed this in Katsina during inauguration of 5- man committee on school feeding.

Sadiya said, the President Muhammad Buhari has directed to increase the number from 9 Million to 15 million pupils.

She said the inauguration of the committee was part of effort to ensure exact beneficiaries of the programme and its successful implementation.

Earlier, Governor Aminu Bello Masari commended President Muhammad Buhari for introducing various programme to reduce poverty among Nigerians.

Masari noted that the school feeding programme has assisted toward increase of children enrollment into schools.

In his speech, Special Adviser on Economic Development, Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir said over 830,000 pupils of primary 1-3 are benefitting from school feeding programmes in the state.

Nasir also said that, about 2,777 primary schools are registered for the programme.
