NCS investigates attack on Katsina commissioner

Katsina Command of Nigeria Customs Service has set up a committee to investigate alleged shooting of a motorcade of a Katsina State Commissioner for Local Government Yau Umar Gwajo-Gwajo by its operatives.

The Triumph gathered that Alhaji Gwajo-Gwajo, was alleged to have been shot at on Tuesday by Customs operatives of the Katsina Area Command on his way from his home town Maiadua LGA.
It has however understood that the commissioner escaped unhurt.
Mr. Dalha Wada-Chedi, the command’s Acting Controller, told newsmen in Katsina that the command had inaugurated an investigative committee into the incident.

Wada-Chedi expressed optimism that the investigative committee would do justice to the task assigned to it.

He said the committee’s report would be made public and necessary action taken against possible culprits.

“It is unfortunate that the incident occurred, but then we always believe in destiny,’’ he said.

Meanwhile the command has seized items worth over N65 million within the last one month.

Chedi said the seized items include foreign rice, catons of couscous, milky creamer, vegetables, gas cylinder and spaghetti.

Other sized items include Mercedes Benz, Peugeot 504, Toyota Hilux and Nissan.

He said the command will continue to do everything possible to stop importation of illegal items into the state.
