The wife of Katsina State governor, Hajiya Zakiyya Aminu Masari, has distributed agricultural inputs to women cooperatives in Sandamu and Zango local governments.
Speaking at the occasion, Mrs. Masari said the agricultural inputs are distributed under her NGO, ‘Women, Youth and Children Improvement Support Initiative.’
Mrs. Masari said the agricultural inputs that include chick feed, drinkers and feeders were distributed to boost agricultural and commercial activities of the women.
She further added that the distribution of the inputs was a fulfillment of a promise made during electioneering campaign by the current administration.
She noted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration has within the last seven and a half years implemented policies that boosted livestock production in the state.
According to her, the state government, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, has distributed supplementary feeds to all categories of livestock farmers to alleviate their suffering during the dry season.
Mrs. Masari further said government has established and managed several livestock facilities, in addition to annual vaccination of livestock and local poultry to prevent them from contacting disease.
She called on women to ensure judicious use of agricultural inputs provided to them.
During the occasion, beneficiaries of the agricultural inputs commended the wife of the state governor for her assistance to make them self-reliant.
They pledged to make good use of the inputs and called on other non-governmental organizations to initiate ways of assisting women and children.
