Katsina State Government has spent N253.8 million for maintenance of state football team, Katsina United.
The state Commissioner of Sport and Social Development, Alhaji Sani Danlami revealed this to newsmen in the state.
Danlami said the amount spent is for 2019/2020 season, which includes salaries for players and other expenses.
He explained that the amount is out of N410 million budgeted for the football team.
He said the state government was committed to continue to maintain the team to excel in various national and international competitions.
Danlami, who gave breakdown of expenses spent under his ministry, said N33.1 million, is being expended annually for cleaning services of Muhammadu Dikko Stadium.
“We spent N7, 176 million for provision of security service and additional N61, 630 million for maintenance of synthetic pitch at the stadium.”
According to him, his administration has spent N35.8 million for rehabilitation of Katsina Golf Club and N3 million for purchase of sports equipment.
He said N19.3 million was spent as assistance to football club across the 34 local government areas of the state. Danlami further said rehabilitation and upgrading of Funtua Township Stadium gulfed about N149.9 million.
