Katsina State governor, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari, has ordered the immediate closure of the Batsari/Jibia Road to all motorists.
The closure of the road was as a result of persistent kidnapping and banditry attacks along the road.
A statement signed by the Director, Press Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Abdullahi Aliyu Yaradua, said the closure of the road was contained in the executive order issued in line with the power conferred on the governor by section two of section 17 of the constitution.
According to the order signed by the governor on May 10, this year, the Batsari-Jibia Road will remain closed until further notice. In the same vein, Governor Masari has ordered the re-opening of the Kankara-Sheme Road to all motorists.
A statement signed by the Acting Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Muntari Lawal, said that the order, which was cited as security challenge (containment) Order No. 6, was made in the interest of security and public safety.
