Katsina State House of Assembly has passed into law, a bill for the establishment of College of Agriculture Daudawa in Faskari Local Government Area.
The bill was passed following adoption of the report of the joint committees on Higher Education and that of Agriculture.
Our reporter gathered that the bill was sponsored by the Deputy Speaker of the House, Engr. Shehu Dalhatu Tafoki representing Faskari Constituency.
The bill passed first and second reading on the floor of the house and later referred to Joint committee of Higher Education and that of Agriculture for legislative scrutiny and wider consultations with stakeholders.
Presenting the committee report before passage, the Joint Committee Chairman, Shamsuddeen Abubakar Dabai said the proposed College will focus on training of middlemen level manpower such as Agric inspectors, extension workers as well as promotion of vocational agric training centres in the state under certificate and diploma programmes.
He said the existing training Agric Centre Daudawa has many infrastructure to reduce cost of take off of the college.
Commenting on the passage of the bill, Shehu Dallatu Tafoki noted that the college will produce needed agricultural extension workers for the state.
Speaker Tasiu Musa Maigari directed the clerk to forward clean copy of the bill to executive for implementation.
