Kogi Assembly Elections Peaceful Devoid of Crisis

The conduct of the State Assembly election exercise was very peaceful in most of the poling units visited in Lokoja metropolis.

The poling units visited includes Datti poling unit 017,Angwan kura, poling 006 Angwan Kura/ Ma’ahadi, 004 Inuwa Lange poling unit, 012 Bebeji poling unit & 011 Sherrif Kawu poling unit.


Others are 003 Madabo Centre Poling Unit, 010 Salisu Yunusa poling unit, 010 Karaworo South poling unit, 007 Cantoment poling unit & 005 Attah’s Frontage Poling unit.
All the Presiding Officers interviewed said the elections was very peaceful and also added that both sensitive & non sensitive materials arrived as early as 8am in the morning. They said the voters conducted themselves in an orderly manner devoid of any outbreak of violence, although, they said the turn out of voters was very low compared to Presidential and National Assembly elections conducted 3 weeks ago.. Our correspondent reports that security agencies are on ground to forestall break down of law & order.

In an interview, both the candidates of All Progressive Congress( APC) and people’s Democratic Party( PDP) contesting Lokoja 1 State Constituency into the Kogi State House of Assembly seat, Hon Ebaiya Shehu Tijjani and Hon Shehu Ahmed Tijjani expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the election and also expressed confidence that they will come out victorious at the end of the exercise.

It will be recalled that there is no governorship election in Kogi State until 11th of November, 2023.
