Kano state government has inaugurated a Committee that will ensure the successful celebration of Nigeria’s 61st Independence anniversary.
Inaugurating the Committee on behalf of the Commissioner of Information, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Alhaji Usman Bala Muhammad said the Committee is mandated with the responsibility of organising a befitting celebration in the state.
He tasked the committee on the enormous responsibility assigned to it by working diligently for its success.
A statement issued by the ministry’s Director Special Duties, Alhaji Sani Abba Yola quoted the Bala saying “I implore you to make the preparation of this year’s anniversary more resounding and outstanding for obvious reason that last year was a very significant for our nation. Whoever reaches 60 year of age has not only reach the age of maturity but the age of wisdom.
The permanent secretary explained that Nigeria’s Independence is important to Nigerians as it gingers them to reflect on the achievements so far made from Independence day.
He added that the committee is also to organize series of public lectures, school debate, visitations to social homes, a grand parade on October 1 as well as other activities that will make the anniversary more colourful and memorable.
In his welcome remarks the Director Internal Affairs, Ministry of Information, Alhaji Usman Bello assured that the Committee members will organize a successful celebration as some of them were among the last year’s committee which successfully planned and organized a befitting anniversary.
The Committee has Permanent Secretary Ministry of Information, Alhaji Usman Bala Muhammad as Chairman, Director Internal Affairs Ministry of Information Alhaji Usman Bello as Co-chair, representatives of security agencies, paramilitary and some staff of the state MDAs as members.
