In the midst of the mammoth crowd that engulfed Kano metropolis for welcoming the campaign of the presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has described the state as one of the biggest and largest democracy in the country.
Dr. Ganduje made the description at Sani Abacha Stadium when millions of people, men and women, young and old ones, from every nooks and crannies of the state, being the most populous, showed their solidarity and endorsed Asiwaju Ahmad Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima as his running mate for 2023 presidential candidate to take over Villa.
He said: “You are welcome to the Arafat of politics. Arafat of politics is in Kano today. “Your Excellency, we are the biggest and largest democracy in Nigeria.
“We are the biggest because we have 44 elected chairmen, 448 elected councilors, three Senators, 24 House of Representatives and 40 members of the state Assembly.
“This is the greatest democracy in Nigeria. “Our Excellency, there are so many variables to take into consideration when you are planning to win an election.
“Here in Kano, we have taken all the variables into consideration.”
The governor assured the presidential candidate, his running mate and the national APC chairman that the state has done a lot in terms of physical infrastructure and youth empowerment, adding that, insha Allah, APC would win election in Kano and the nation at large.
On behalf of the governor’s forum, Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State, applauded Governor Ganduje for creating such atmosphere and gathering like that, saying he was not wondering as the state was known for creating such gesture as they did to Muhammadu Buhari during 2014 and 2019 presidential campaigns and elections simultaneously.
He also stated that they (the governors) endorsed and supported Ahmad Bola Tinubu because they knew his quality and made sure that they could lead the nation well.
Bagudu also rejected the propaganda that other political parties were having a relationship with APC governors. “This is not true. APC governors are on the frontline for making sure Tinubu contests and wins election in 2023,” he hinted out.
On his part, the national chairman of the party, Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu, called on the party candidates of Kano to work assiduously for its success. “I hope what we see today in Kano will yield a good result during presidential and gubernatorial election,” he hoped.
Also, the vice presidential candidate of the party, Sen. Kashim Shettima, implored all the crowd to vote for APC during presidential election, promising them that, insha Allah, if they are elected, they would complete the railway line from Kano to Jigawa to Daura; AKK pipeline; Kanawa Economic City and also creation of jobs to the teeming people of the state and the nation at large.
The presidential campaign has witnessed a lot of important dignitaries, ranging from serving and former governors, Senators, House of Representatives, members of state Houses of Assemblies, bigwig politicians and many others that eyes could not be able to see and identify due to the millions of supporters within and outside the venue.
