Seven incumbent members of the House of Representatives from Katsina State have lost the ticket of their party, the APC, during the concluded party primary.
The affected members are out of 15 members from the state.
Our correspondent reports that the primary election conducted yesterday was judged as free and fair and all the losers accepted the defect in good faith.
Among the members that lost the ticket include nephew of President Buhari, Futuhu Mahammed, representing Daura-Sandamu-Maidua.
Others include Murtala Isah, representing Faskari-Sabuwa-Dandume, Salisu Iro Isansi, representing, Katsina Federal constituency; and Hamza Dalhatu, of Rimi-Charanchi-Batagarawa constituency.
Also defeated at the primary were Ashiru Mani, representing Mani-Bindawa, and Ahmed Dayyabu Safana of Safana, Batsari-Dandume.
Armaya’u Kado of Dutsin-Ma, Kurfi, and Ahmed Musawa of Matazu-Musawa Federal constituencies also lost the party ticket.
Meanwhile, two gubernatorial aspirants in the just concluded APC primary election have accepted defeat and pledged to work for the victory of the party during the 2023 general election.
The two aspirants include, Dr. Mustapha Mohammed Inuwa and incumbent Deputy Governor, Mannir Yakubu.
Speaking at a press conference, Mustapha described the primary election as free and fair and congratulated the winner, Dr. Dikko Radda, for winning the party ticket.
Also, in a press statement, Mannir appreciated the peaceful conduct of the primary and commended delegates for displaying discipline and maturity during the election.
