Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad of Bauchi State has declared interest of his administration to implement Pension Contributory Scheme in the state.
The governor disclosed this when he received officials of the Premium Pension Limited who paid him an advocacy visit at the Government House, Bauchi.
Governor Muhammad said implementing the policy in the state would enable the beneficiaries access capital market loans and other interventions for self reliance.
The governor, who regretted that, his administration had inherited pension system with no credible data, said the state government would partner with the company to improve the welfare of pensioners.
He said his administration was working assiduously to enhance the integrity of its pension data and block leakages in the system so as to ensure effective pension management in line with international best practice.
The governor therefore expressed confidence that mutual partnership between the two bodies would enable his administration free resources from mismanagement for the provision of required social services by addressing poverty and bad governance in the state.
Earlier, the chairman of the Premium Pension Limited, Alhaji Ibrahim Alhassan Babayo had said the visit was to seek partnership with the state government for proper pension management in the state.
