The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has on Sunday night declared the All Progressive Congress Governorship candidate ,Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto the winner of the last Saturday’s elections.
Ahmad who scored 453,661 votes to emerged a landslide victory with a margin of 44,029 votes against his opponent Malam Sa’idu Ubandoma of the People Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 404,632 votes.
Aliyu won 18 out of 23 local government council areas to emerge as the state governor -elect against Malam Ubandoma who marginally led by 5 local government council areas .
The Governorship Election Returning Officer in the state ,Prof Armaya’u Hamisu , Vice Chancellor of the Federal University ,Dutsinma ,Katsina declared the final result Sunday night .
Prof Hamisu said Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto of the APC having satisfied the requirement of the law is declared winner of the governorship election conducted Saturday March ,18th ,2023 .
The election returning officer said the total registered votes in the state is 2,172,056 while the number of the accredited votes is 901,513 votes .
According to him,the total votes cast in the state is 879,776 while the total valid votes cast is 864,419 with 15,357 votes rejected.
