Kano State governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has commended the efforts of the state chapter of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) for bearing the hardship of economic crunch which is all over the world, the country and the state respectively.
Dr. Ganduje stated this recently at Africa House, Government House while breaking fast with its members as a tradition during every special month of Ramadan.
The governor, in his speech said: “I thank you for bearing the hardship of economic crunch which is all over the world, Nigeria not in exception, and Kano not in exception.
“We appreciate you for bearing with us, for agreeing to sit round the table whenever there is difficult moment. This is a sign of maturity. This is a sign of commitment and this is the sign for the love of our dear state, Kano.”
He also commended their effort for working tirelessly to make the state safe during #Endsars demonstration in the country.
“During the #EndSars demonstration, we didn’t witness such a disruption, a very painful demonstration by some miscreants. Kano state was safe from that, and this was because of your full cooperation.
“Because members of the labour were fully involved in some state, even in some looting of stores, burning of tyres, stealing to some extent, but because of your maturity and your dedication and your discipline we did not have anything like that,” said Ganduje.
He also promised to NLC chairman that there were some of improvements within this month as he said that: “Chairman, your association in Kano state government, we continue to pray to see how pack we look like this month but we believe there is an improvement.”
In his remarks, the state NLC chairman, Comrade Kabiru Ado Minjibir, has eulogized the governor for his giant stride towards the relative peace in the state, the management of COVID-19 pandemic as well as other laudable projects that were executed in the state despite the dwindling of the economic situation.
He also added that: “We want also appreciate you for tolerating the outcry of the workers’ union few weeks ago. Your Excellency, we have cried and as a sign of a good father who listen to his children when they cry, and prepare solution, we pray that all the resolution raised should be implemented.”
He urged the state government to provide space for depot that will accommodate 10 to 15 buses as their station which will enhance employment opportunities and boost the economics of the state.
