Six months after the fire incident that razed the Sokoto Central Market ,the State Government has broken its silence and announced plans to assist the victims, in addition to the commencement of the general renovation of the dilapidated structures.
It could be recall that the long awaited state government decision on the Sokoto Central Market fire incident that occurred in February last year become a serious source of discussions especially among the traders displaced as a result of the fire incident.
The State Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal announced this during the inauguration of 28 newly elected executive members of the State Traders Association held at Sultan Maccido Institute of Quranic Recitations and General Studies in Sokoto today.
Tambuwal who was represented by the state Commissioner for Commence and Industry, Alhaji Bashir Gidado Jegawa said very soon the government will explain in details it proposed scheduled on how to go about the execution of the projects and provision of assistant to the traders.
He maintained that the state government will continue to provide prospective investors who are willing to invest with a free land and conducive business environment to excel.
Earlier, the President f the State Chamber if Commerce and Industry, Alhaji Mu’azu Bello had said the elections of the new executive members was delayed after the expired of the outgoing leaders do to the challenges of insecurity activities.
Bello also urged the new leaders to maintain contact and cordial relationship with business stakeholder so as boost the business activities in the state.
In his acceptance speech shortly after their inauguration, the new chairman, Alhaji Chika Sarkin Gishiri urged members to remain unity and work assiduously for the economy progress of the state.
