Fire gutted Jigawa Tsangaya school, kills cleric

A 29-year-old Islamic cleric, Malam Muhammad Ahmad was burnt to ashes as a result of fire outbreak that gulped Tsangaya Islamic School at Kuka Dubu village of Kirikasamma Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

In a statement signed by the Information Officer of the council, Sunusi Doro, the fire has also burnt to ashes over 200 rooms according to an eye witness, Malam Yakubu Hassan.

The statement said two pupils also sustained various degrees of injuries due to some burns.

It added that unaccountable number of animals, copies of Glorious Qur’an and food worth millions of Naira were also lost to the mysterious inferno.

The village head of Kuka Dubu, Alhaji Dabuwa Bulama has appealed to the council and the state government to as a matter of urgency to come to the aid of the victims.

As at the time of filing in this report, the cause of the fire was yet to be known and the chairman of the council, Alhaji Barkono has paid sympathy visit to families of the victims and pledged to assist them as an interim measure and would report the matter to the state and Federal Governments for further actions.
