The Management Committee Chairman, Jos North Local Government Council, Plateau State, Shehu Bala Usman has expressed the desire of his administration to ensure each motor park and markets within the domain have access to toilet facilities in line with the vision of the federal and state government.
The Chairman stated this when he officially handed over toilet facilities to the officials of Plateau Express Services and Bauchi Motor park in Jos.
The toilets facility at the Plateau Express Services and Bauchi Motor park was executed to conform with federal government policy aimed at tackling the menace of open defecation in public places as a measure to encourage cleanliness and safe hygiene in the country.
The Chairman, said the modern toilet facilities provided by the Federal Ministry of Water Resources to the area was aimed at ensuring citizens change from their cultural norms of defecating in the public places to ensure practicing sustainable cleanliness and personal hygiene.
The Chairman who was represented by the Supervisory Councilor for Works, Housing and Transport of the Counci,l Francis Gazu pointed out that the overall impact of promoting sanitation and hygiene was for the benefit of all.
The Consultant of the project, Abdulmalik Musa said the project was done according with its specifications.
On his part, the site Engr. Ibrahim Balogun said the toilets has all the contemporary facilities, challenging the officials of the market to ensure proper maintenance of the facilities.
While receiving the the facilities on behalf of the Management of the parks, Gyang Sha, Ishaku Musa lauded the chairman for ensuring that the intervention work was done according to specification and they assured them of their management readiness to ensure proper hygiene of the facilities.
