Katsina State has a shortfall of about 7,000 Police Officers, Commissioner of Police, Sanusi Buba has said.
Buba said the approval establishment of police Command in the state is 12,332 while the present strength is only 5,389
The Commissioner who spoke while given an insight on effort to address insecurity problem said despite the shortfall, the command has succeeded in minimizing crime in the state.
Buba explained that the command has arrested 1,503 suspected criminals while about 1,116 are undergoing prosecution at various court.
He said 267 suspected armed rosses were arrested and charged to court.
“We have arrested 304 kidnappers and rescued 393 kidnapped victims while 27 bandits were neutralized”
Buba further explained that the command also arrested 526 cattle rustlers and recovered 1,366 cows, 1,221 and 271 goats.
The commissioner explained that 209 suspected were arrested in connection with report cases of rape, adding the suspect were already charged to court.
Bube explained that 64 victims of Human Trafficking were rescued
He called on people of the state to assist police with useful information on activities and hideout of criminals.
