Court orders Kontagora Emir to vacate Office

From Isa Dangana, Minna

The newly appointed Emir of Kontagora, Alhaji Muhammad Kontagora has been ordered to stop parading himself as the Seventh Emir of Kontagora by the Minna High Court.

The order followed a motion of expert brought before it by the 15 plaintiffs’ lawyer, Mr. W.Y. Mamman, who prayed the court for an interim injunction restraining the new Emir as the substantive Emir of Kontagora pending the determination of the motion on notice before the court.

The motion is challenging the selection process purportedly held on September 19, this year, and prayed court to order the defendant respondents, their agents and any other persons to stop claiming or parading himself as the new Emir of Kontagora.

Justice Mikahail, after listening to the ex-parte motion, issued an order restraining Kontagora from parading himself as the new Emir.

The High Court judge also issued an interim injunction to the Niger State Government not to present the new Emir of Kontagora with a staff of office pending the determination of the ex-parte motion.
