Kano State House of Assembly has reiterated commitment towards taking right decisions over constitution amendments in respect of 5th Alteration Bills conveyed by the National Assembly to the House.
Speaker, Engr. Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari, stated this while declaring open, a two-day workshop on the Review of the 5th Alteration Bill in collaboration with Partnership Reforms and Learn (PERL) held in the state yesterday.
Chidari stressed that like other states, the House commenced the consideration of the clauses as conveyed by the National Assembly, pointing out that in doing so, the House established a committee under the leadership of the Deputy Speaker with a mandate to study and report its findings as well as recommendations for final voting by the lawmakers.
He expressed delight with the utmost support of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to the House in discharging its constitutional responsibilities.
On his part, Majority Leader, Hon. Labaran Abdul Madari, said they were at the venue to extensively discuss and deliberate on the Alteration Bill, revealing that this is the fifth workshop on the matter.
Also speaking, Deputy Speaker, Hon. Kabiru Hassan Dashi, who is the Committee Chairman, said they will do justice to the bill, adding that the committee may engage people of the state in a public hearing.
In his remarks, the State Team Leader of the PERL, Alhaji Isa Surajo said the technical session would engage the members on the need and strategies on how to approach and study the bill.
