Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has assured the people of the state that his administration will continue to support women and vulnerable persons to be self-reliant with a dignified and sustainable mean of livelihoods.
Speaking during the distribution of goats to women, some of whom are widows and vulnerable, Governor Buni said, government would intensify efforts on women empowerment and skill acquisition in order to free them from poverty.
The governor disclosed this in Buni Yadi, headquarters of Gujba Local Government Area, while flagging-off the distribution of the goats to women across the state.
“We will continue to seek collaboration with development partners and other stakeholders to improve the lives of our people.”
He said a total of 1,780 goats would be distributed to 890 women across the state.
Five women from each of the 178 electoral wards would be provided with a pair of goats male and female respectively.
He warned beneficiaries to avoid the temptation of selling the goats to settle their problems, adding that the initiative is an investment into their future.
