Banditry: Sultan urge Nigerians to support military

Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III has called on the general public to support the military to end banditry in Nigeria.


The sultan made the call when the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division/Commander Joint Task Force (Northwest) Operation Hadarin Daji Maj. Gen. Uwem U. Bassey who paid him a courtesy visit in his palace in Sokoto.
The monarch noted that defeating banditry is a collective responsibility that everyone must contribute significantly either in terms of information or logistics support.
He therefore, assured the GOC of his commitment and continuous support towards bringing peace to the Northwest and the country at large.
The Sultan further urged the GOC to collaborate with stakeholders both at higher and local levels to get the credible intelligence that will assist the military in the conduct of its operations.
Responding the Commander Joint Gen. Bassey said he would continue to count on traditional rulers support especially His Eminence who has a alot of military experience.
The GOC noted that the ongoing military operations has involve all stakeholders to ensure successful operations maintain that synergy and collaborations will be his major effort in dealing with other security agencies he stated.
