Not fewer than 286 political associations and groups have rallied behind the gubernatorial ambitions of the Secretary of Katsina State Government (SSG), Dr. Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa.
The members are drawn from religious groups, academia, youth, women’s associations and supporters groups, among others.
Our correspondent reports that political associations and groups organized the rally at Katsina Motel with their members from 261 wards in attendance.
Speaking at the occasion, a leader of the K-34 Political Association, Halilu Manjo said members of the association resolved to rally behind Dr. Inuwa for the overall development of the state.
Manjo described Dr. Inuwa as the right successor to Governor Aminu Bello for continuity of the good work of the APC administration in the state.
He said members of the association from 34 local government areas and 361 wards are working and mobilizing support for him to achieve his dream.
In his speech, Secretary to the Christian Association of Funtua Zone, Ibrahim Ado, said the ambition of SSG is not for members’ selfish interests but because “we believe that he will provide quality leadership to the state.”
Others who spoke at the occasion extolled the good qualities of his leadership and urged all members of the APC to support SSG’s ambition for the party to win the 2023 election
Responding, Dr. Inuwa thanked the organizers of the rally and described it as encouragement toward achieving his political dreams.
“Since I declared my interest to contest for the governorship election, we have been receiving support and encouragement from the people of the state.”
Inuwa said so far about 17 members of the state Assembly have rallied behind his political ambition, saying more members will soon declare their support.
He commended his supporters for their commitment to actualizing his political dreams and called on them to abide by the rules and regulations of the electoral act in carrying out the campaign.
