The Sokoto State Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Ibrahim Sani Ka’oje, has ordered the deployment of officers and men of the Command from various departments to the metropolitan area, Churches and prayer grounds as well as recreational centers across the state to ensure hitch free Yuletide season/Christmas and New Year celebrations.
Kaoje stated that the command has adequate provision and been made to secure other parts of the state during and after the celebrations.
Contained in a statement issued to newsmen in Sokoyo yesterday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Ibrahim Datti Abdulkadir, the general public and the entire people of the state were assured of the readiness of the command to ensure that the state experience a hitch-free Christmas and new year celebrations.
The statement equally appealed to the general public, to desist from the use of fireworks, crackers and knockout as it is not unmindful of the fact that these devices are explosives, which by their nature are harmful and usually disrupt the peaceful atmosphere in the state.
The commissioner therefore enjoined the general public and Christian fellows in particular, to adhere strictly to the Covid-19 protocols and guidelines, as stipulated by relevant authorities during and after the yuletide, especially with the second wave of the outbreak of the disease.
He equally enjoined parents and guardians to be wary of the movements and affairs of their children/wards during the celebrations.
