Prevention of spread of diseases among people has been described as one of the major preoccupation of the government in Kano State.
The concern, which manifests itself in the initiation, implementation and strengthening of various health interventions by Governor Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje administration was aimed ensuring good health for all in the society.
The statement was made by the state commissioner of Health, Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa who represented Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje at the flag off of the Distribution of Personal Protective Equipments and Sanitation items to the ministry, its agencies and health facilities which took place at Drugs Medical and Consumable Supply Agency (DMCSA), recently.
Dr. Tsanyawa disclosed that the items were donated by UNICEF to the state government in order to ensure cleanliness in health facilities across the state as a major criteria in preventing the spread of bacteria and diseases across the state.
While noting that sanitation is recognized globally as one of the key requirements for the prevention of diseases, he commended the effort of UNICEF in donating the items to the state.
In his remarks, the Director General, (DMCSA), Pharm. Hisham Imamudeen appreciated UNICEF as a foremost development partner which goal is to boost healthcare delivery in the country.
Pharm. Hisham therefore urged health facilities to judiciously use the items donated to them.
The items donated UNICEF include waste bins, eye googles, face masks, hand sanitizers, liquid wash, chlorine, gowns, buckets and moppers, as revealed by Hadiza M. Namadi, the Information Officer of the ministry and made available to The Triumph, recently.
