Traditional sports laws review to meet global standard – Gana

Technical Director, Nigeria Traditional Sports Federation, John Gana has said d that Nigeria is making frantic effort to upgrade standard of traditional games to the global stage.

He dropped the hint in an interview with The Triumph shortly after a technical meeting with the stakeholders of the Kokawa in preparation for the beginning of the competition.
The director further said the federation has usher the participating states the new Innovations introduce in the game to meet the global standard by improving the ethics of the weighing moralities from traditionally 50kg to 55kg and above heavyweight.
He commended the participating States for their understanding and support to the initiatives, saying that about 22 state indicated their interest for entry as for now 10 state participate in the 55kg category.
Mr. Gana advised the technical officials and athletes to cooperate and report anythings that is capable for correction to the appropriate authority, not taking laws info their hands.
For the traditional boxing known as Dambe, the technical director said immediately after the completion of the Kokawa, the dambe will commence because the same venue is going to be use.
Meanwhile, Kano State Traditional Sports Association has banned its silver medalist in the last National Sports Festival in Abuja for violating agreement to compete for the state.
The chairman, Kano Traditional Sports and Coordinator of Dambe, Muhammad Bashir Danliti announced the banning to newsmen at the venue of the Traditional Sports Competition in Edo Cultural Centre.
