Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has described the Sokoto State Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal as a dynamic, talented and performing leader with visionary mind who transformed Sokoto state and Northwest region.
Obasanjo stated this yesterday in Sokoto after a one day visit to the state where he laid foundation stone for the construction of over N3.4bn flyover bridge awarded to CCECC Limited.
The former President who expressed appreciation by the laudable achievement so far recorded by Governor Tambuwal especially in the areas of infrastructure development, said “Despite the present situation with simultaneous and non performing economy, insecurity and challenges of the COVID-19, I still wonder how Tambuwal is making things go on and good even with the low level state IGR,” Obasanjo stressed.
He further said: “I still insist that he is a performing governor not only in the state but within the northwest especially in handling issues of insecurity.”
Chief Obasanjo noted that Tambuwal is wonderfully doing well even among his colleagues and for his party.
The former President therefore pray God to gives the governor the strength , wisdom and ability to do more.
He commended the governor on the project, he said infrastructural development especially on transportation is so vital for the development of any state.
He however commended the efforts of Tambuwal led administration and his team for choosing a reputable construction company in the construction of the flyover project and other projects in the state.
In his remarks, the state governor disclosed that transportation infrastructure is the vein through which all activities for the socio-economic transformation of the social flow.
“This flyover at Runjin Sambo is one such project whose time is long overdue.
“It is one of the numerous legacy projects that will have a lasting impact on the life of our people and cause the facilitation of the development drive of our state.
“Under the Ministry of Land and Housing, five such major projects have been awarded, which are: Construction of flyover bridge at Rijiyar Dorowa Round About.
“Construction of nine span flyover bridge at Runjin Sambo area, Dualization of Waziri Abbas Road, Dualization of Maituta Road both in Sokoto metropolis as well as Construction of Tashar Illela – Achida Junction Road.
He explained that four different construction firms were awarded the projects which include K&E LTD, Solid Stone Construction, Afdin Construction, and CCECC Construction limited at a combined total cost of over N10B.
“Other Projects on the drawing board of the ministry include the 342 Housing Estate, the provision of infrastructure for the Sokoto New City projects, and construction of the Southern Bypass.
