Shanono establishes 2 committees to tackle security challenges

Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State has established two major committees to tackle security challenges and promote peace, stability and tranquility within the area.

The chairman of the council, Comrade Abdullahi Abubakar Shanono disclosed this to The Triumph in an interview during a visit to the office at Sheik Nasiru Kabara Housing Estate on Wednesday.

He said the committees are Youth and Elders, adding that the youth committee was established to provide security through proper coordination of patrolling the area to ensure peace, unity and tranquility, while that of elders was mainly to render support through prayers and recitation of Glorious Qur’an in order to achieve the desired goals.

Comrade Shanono therefore commended the state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for giving the opportunity to the council to employ 100 vigilante and hunters to ensure security consciousness in the domain.

He said the council has signed a three month agreement with the employee to be paid N20,000 each month, adding that another arrangement is under way to engage more people.

He said the council has recorded remarkable achievements in the area of security by not experiencing any challenges such as kidnapping, attacking and robbery cases, since he assumed office despite the local government is neighbouring the volatile areas in Katsina State.

The chairman said the council was making efforts to clear all bushes around the area to avoid hiding hoodlums for criminal activities, advising Katsina State Government to apply the same idea of clearing the bush to reduce their hide out so that the rate of crimes would reduce drastically.

He explained that there is no forest in the area that is a threat to security challenge, saying that the little forest within the area is being utilized by allocating and distributing to the communities for farming activities.

Comrade Shanono however said the council has provided vehicles and sufficient funds to the security to support them towards achieving the set objective.
