The Provost of Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies (AKCILS), Prof. Balarabe Abubakar Jakada has described knowledge as the best asset that transcends human being to the top pedestal of every facet of development.
Prof. Jakada disclosed this while speaking at a reception organised for Dr. Salisu Marafa Sagagi by Non-Academic Staff Union of the College (NASU), held at the Majidadin Kauran Katsina College Conference Room of the institution.
He described education as an ingredient for acquiring high status in life.
Prof. Jakada, who tasked all staff of the college, particularly non teaching, to double their effort in obtaining high qualification in order to meet the demand of contemporary administrative challenges, also described PhD degree as terminal.
Earlier speaking, the Deputy Provost Academic of the college, Malam Auwalu Muhammad Karaye and his counterpart of administration, Barr. Dija Isah Hashim, described Marafa as dedicated and equal to the task.
Also speaking, the Registrar of the college, Alhaji Abubakar Yunusa and its Bursar, Alhaji Nura Adamu Na’iya, thanked the union for organizing the event, commending the decorum and good moral character of Marafa.
On his part, the chairman of the union, Comrade Jibrin Musa said they organised the event to rejoice with Marafa, being the first non teaching staff to acquire PhD degree in the history of the college.
In their separate remarks, the former Commissioner for Information in the state, Alhaji Garba Yusuf Abubakar and former President of Guild of Editors, Malam Baba Halilu Dantiye, thanked the leadership of the college for the necessary support and encouragement to Dr. Marafa throughout his academic battle, urging others to emulate the awardee.
Dr. Marafa, who was the staff of Triumph Publishing Company Limited, before he transferred his services to the college in 2014 to become its Public Relations Officer, obtained his PhD degree in Public Relations from University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
