From Umar Danladi Ado, Sokoto

Cassava cultivation by Kebbi State Government has reached advanced stage to serving as raw material for ethanol bio-fuel production in actualization of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu.

Senator Bagudu, who inspected the cassava demonstration farm at Gangije in Gwandu Local Government Area, expressed delight about the plantation.

He expressed confidence of securing the required raw material from the three pilot demonstration farms of Gwazawa in Danko/Wasagu, Gwandu and Maiyama after harvest for the take-off of ethanol production in the state.

Earlier in Sokoto, Governor Bagudu condoled with the chairman of the State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Alhaji Muntari Maigona on the death of his father, Alhaji Umaru Maigona at Runjin Sambo, who passed away on Monday following a brief illness at the age of 84, leaving behind four wives and many children grandchildren.
