The names of those top military officers that involved in yesterday’s plane crash in Kaduna were given as
Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, Brig. Gen. M. I. Abdulkadir, Brig. Gen. Olayinka, Brig. Gen. Kuliya, Maj. L. A. Hayat, Maj. Hamza and Sgt. Umar.
The above is the list of those in the entourage of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, who died along with those mentioned in the list in the plane crash.
While Flt. Lt. T. O. Asaniyi, Flt. Lt. A. A. Olufade, Sgt. Adesina and ACM Oyedepo were the names given as the crew of the affected plane.
The bad news of the demise of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Attahiru greeted the people of the country in the late hours of yesterday, Friday, May 21, 2021 in the nation.
He died along with others in his entourage while on an official trip to Kaduna State.
Gen. Attahiru, who was appointed in January this year, will go down in history as the most shortlived Chief of Army Staff of the nation.
Although the Nigerian Army is yet to make any official statement on his death, Nigerian Air Force confirmed one of its aircraft crashed on Friday near Kaduna International Airport.
The immediate cause of the crash is yet to be ascertained but checks carried out by our reporter indicated that there is no survivor in the crash.
According to sources, the aircraft crashed at the Kaduna international Airport at about 6:00pm while it was raining heavily.
Edward Gabkwet, Air Commodore Director of Public Relations and Information in a brief statement via the official Twitter handle of the Nigerian Air Force (@NigAirForce) on Friday evening confirmed the crash though he did not disclose casualties.
