*Satisfied with work progress

Kano State Governor, Dr. Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje yesterday inspected Hydro Power Plant Project at Challawa Gorge Dam in Karaye Local Government Area.
The visit was part of his effort to see to the expansion of economic fortunes and self-sufficiency for individuals, together with provision of healthy water supply.
After being satisfied with the progress of the work, he disclosed that, those handling the gigantic project assured him of their completion of the project by June next year.
The plant is a 2×3 Megawatts capacity, aimed at supplying electricity to Kano industries, street lights and for home consumption of some sort. It is the third hydropower plant project in the state, with Tiga Hydro Power Plant and that of Challawa Hydropower Plant.
“We have two such projects which we inherited. At Tiga and Challawa Dams. And we have since vowed to complete them at the right time successfully.
“In fact for the Tiga Dam Hydropower Plant, we have reached up to 95 percent completion. We are commissioning the project this year In Sha Allah,” Ganduje revealed.
He added that, “our hydropower projects are for Kano industries, street lights and clusters of individuals, highlighting that, “We are assuring our people that, we will make sure that we continue to make things work for our people.”
The governor recalled that the project, he disclosed that, “the first problem we encountered was that of how to also continue using the dam for our farmers.
“But with some adjustments here and there, we are now ready to use the dam for the hydropower plant and for our farmers, to allow them have dry season farming. Everything is designed for this. So all aspects are taken into consideration.”
