A 2023 gubernatorial aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) Adamawa State chapter has challenged Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri over the recent uncompleted projects commissioned in the state.
Alhaji Mustafa Madawaki (Mukadas) said Governor Fintiri’s administration should stop misleading people instead of implementing the policies that he was voted by the people of the state, saying that his two-year score card cerebrated was not worthy for cerebration since they are not the human development he promised during his campaign.
Madawaki declared this to some journalists recently in Yola, the state capital, claiming that the governor had deviated from policies he was supposed to pursue for the people of the state.
The aspirant, who is eyeing the Dogirei House, claimed that: “the governor lacked good policies and vision to have ferried some Nigerian governors and ministers to commission 2-3 kilometre roads in the state to celebrate his two-year in office.”
He explained that the hopes and aspirations of the people in the state are beyond that.
The 2023 aspirant also stated that: “Fintiri is supposed to celebrate when the Flyover bridge project is being carried out from Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) not loans collected and later leaving the state with bulk of liabilities.”
He went history lane that: “No country that its government will construct a 2-3 kilometre road and will invite its colleagues – governors or ministers to come and commission.”
“How do you spend N1.3 billion to construct two kilometre road? What kind of arithmetic is that? Funds accruing to the state from the treasury unchecked, uncounted for and this money belongs to the people and doesn’t belong to the governor. He can’t spend it the way he wants,” he added.
“With the kind of funds made available to the state government in
terms of statutory allocation, IGR including the loans that are being collected here and there, he should beat the imagination of many people in Nigeria by doing an excellent job,” he said.
He frowned that the people of the state should find out where are the loans from so that if they are from financial institutions, they should be directed into the state government treasury not to projects that have no impact to the common man.
He alleged that former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar was misled to commission projects that are not completed, but still under construction.
“You can imagine this project that has been commissioned. I am sure Atiku just commissioned the project as a leader and for party sake,” Alhaji Madawaki said.
In his reaction to Alhaji Madawaki’s claims, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, Humwashi Honosikou, he said: “You don’t need anything good from the opposition, even a blind man that comes to the state today knows that new government is in place and for better.”
He said the APC government in the last four years “what have they recorded in the state but Fintiri came to change narrative they felt disappointed, because he has transformed the state from the former rural state capital to urban and can now be compared with other states, especially in education, health care, free feeding, NECO, WAEC. APC is left political gimmick that is why the Fintiri is not bordered.”
