From Suleiman Lawal, Lafia
Traditional rulers in Nasarawa State have condemned the killing of the state All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman, Mr. Philip Tatari Shekwo by unknown gunmen.
The traditional rulers also pledged unflinching support to government in order to address security challenges, especially now that community policing has come to stay in the state.
This was contained in a statement by the Public Relation Officer of the state Ministry of Local Government, Community Development and Chieftaincy Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Adamu Shigafarta, a copy of which was made available to The Triumph in Lafia, the state capital.
The statement quoted the state chairman, the Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage (rtd.) making the condemnation at an extra ordinary meeting of the council.
It also commended Governor Abdullahi Sule’s efforts in ensuring the development of the state.
He appealed to governments at all levels to provide constitutional power to traditional rulers.
“This will enhance their work as custodian of culture of their respective domains,” the statement added.
While urging security operatives to intensity efforts to arrest perpetrators of the killing, they commended people of the state for maintaining decorum in their activities.
