Federal Mortgage Bank has constructed 1,209 houses in Katsina State for distribution to civil servants.
The Managing Director of the bank, Arc. Ahmad Musa Dangiwa told newsmen in Katsina that the houses were built under agreement of Cooperative Housing Development Programme.
“We entered into agreement with NLC, Nigerian Medical Association and some other civil servant associations for building of houses in Katsina.
“We have completed some houses while some are on-going, we hope to complete all the construction of 1,209 houses within next six months,” he revealed.
Dangiwa said the houses were located in Funtua, Dutsinma, Daura, Malumfashi and Katsina Local Government Areas.
The Managing Director said the bank introduced Home Renovation Loan for civil servants in all the 34 states of the federation.
According to him, under the programme about 8,000 civil servants benefited with a loan of N1 million each in the state.
Dangiwa explained that the bank will soon commence disbursement of free interest loan to its depositors, saying: “We will soon commence a new programme for Nigerians in diaspora to benefit from activities of federal Mortgage bank.”
Dangiwa said within his five-year tenure in office, he was able to sanitize activities of the bank to ensure that the country’s civil servants benefit from its activities without any hitch.
He said the bank is ready to extent its services not only for civil servants, but all Nigerians through setting of registered associations.
