From Sani Dalhat, Zaria
Former Senator representing Kaduna North, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed has declared his intention to contest the 2023 governorship race in Kaduna State under the platform of People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Baba-Ahmed had earlier served as legislator in the lower chamber representing Zaria Federal Constituency as well as served as Senator representing Kaduna North from May 29, 2011 to 2012, and had been in the APC and a staunch supporter and loyalist of President Muhammadu Buhari before he parted ways.
He had clinched all his political positions while in the APC.
Baba-Ahmed however jumped out of the ruling party based on what he called ‘principle and ideology.’
Declaring his intention at the PDP office in Zaria Local Government, Baba-Ahmed said he would contest the governorship election on the platform of PDP, vowing that when voted into power, he would “clean all the dirt brought about in the state under the APC-led government of Governor Nasir El-Rufai in the name of development.”
He added: “Two issues will be given top and urgent priority, when voted into office; security and education, because I consider them highly significant in human existence.
“Before making my stance known, I consulted my loyalists and supporters and they wanted me to contest the governorship race of Kaduna State which I will do to remove APC, God’s willing.”
The former Senator then canvassed the support and good will of all PDP members in the state, assuring them of his commitment to credible leadership and positive development.
